In the year 2007, the land was allotted for Boat Club near Atal Ghat. It’s Project was made by the Chief Engineer of IIT and proposal sent to Tourism Dept., GOI through U.P. Tourism Dept. but funding was not sanctioned. In 2010, the process started again as then Commissioner, Sri Amit Ghosh took keen interest for this. In 2012, the possibility of another site was explored due to flood water reached to pre-define space then the officials of National Water Sports Associations and District Administration along with other experts selected right guide bandh area. Despite various ups & downs follow up was continued. In the year 2015, then commissioner, Sri Iftikharuddin and then V. C KDA, Smt. Jayashree Bhoj incorporated this project under “Botanical Garden Project” of KDA and an amount of Rs. 1102 lacs was sanctioned.
Finally it’s construction started by Irrigation Deptt. For its administrative control “The Kanpur Boat Club Committee” got registered. In the year 2019, then Commissioner, Sri Sudhir M. Bobade further speed up the project and finally in the year 2020 Dr. Raj Shekhar, Commissioner, Kanpur Division, cleared all hinderance, extended immense importance to this project and monitored day to day development. Finally it’s being completed in Aug’ 2021.
